Joe Broussard, FCA Regional Director
California/Nevada/Hawaii

“FCA is up and running on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii thanks to our partnership with Youth for Christ. In early February, 2006, Les and Chris came out to the Islands to help with the ministry opportunities surrounding the NFL Pro Bowl. Due to the influence of National Trustee Members, Dave and Nora Kowalski, and the hard work of YFC / FCA staffer, Danny Casey, the Steckels and I were given access to Pro Bowl practices.

“Les and Chris were right at home with the stars of the NFL. Due to their relationships with players, coaches, wives, children and chaplains, we were able to share the vision and passion of the FCA Ministry with many people that our staff never get close to. They used every available minute to promote FCA. I tried to get them to relax and take some time for themselves, but that was difficult for them to do. They didn’t even go to the game. They pushed themselves so hard, and this was only a few days before Realtime II! If they seemed a bit worn out in KC, you can blame me.

“I can’t wait until next February. Having Les and Chris in Hawaii during Pro Bowl week is a must for keeping FCA in front of these pros. But next year, hopefully, I will get them to take a walk on the beach!”

Shannon Powell, FCA Area Director
South Central North Carolina

“Les’ very presence demonstrates his gentle strength and meekness, yet it suffocates any doubt that he, as the Head Coach, is now responsible for the direction of this great FCA Ministry.”

Terry Hill, FCA Area Director
Greater Philadelphia

“What a joy and blessing it was to have Coach Steckel with us here in Philly this past January! We gathered about 35 people from the area for a luncheon and put ‘Coach’ up front, and it was magic! His infectious smile and ‘down-home’ personality gained instant rapport with our attendees, and he had them eating out of his hands as he related he and Chris’ trek through the NFL and FCA."

“Thanks, Coach! You’re welcome in Philly any time.”
