Replacing Lies with Truth
As part of the healing process at Mercy Ministries girls are shown how to replace the lies they believe about themselves with biblical truths. Below are a few of the many lies that women like Schultz believe and what God’s Word says in contrast.
Lie: I am unlovable.
Truth: “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7, NKJV).
Lie: I am not beautiful.
Truth: “You are complete in Him, who is the head of all principalities and power” (Mark 11:24, NKJV).
Lie: I will never find a man who loves me for my heart.
Truth: “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4,5, NKJV).
Lie: God only loves me because He has to because He is God
Truth: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (Eph. 1:17-19 NKJV)
Lie: There’s nothing more to me than my outward appearance
Truth: “…Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7 NKJV)
Lie: If I let anyone get close to me, I may get my heart broken again.
Truth:“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it” (1 Thess. 5:23,24 NKJV).
Lie: I can’t understand God.
Truth:“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16 NKJV).
Lie: I will never find a man who loves me for my heart.
Truth: “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psalm 37:4,5 NKJV).
